Can Activity Reduce The Risk of Depression?
It would seem so, physically active people have up to a 30% reduced risk of becoming depressed, and staying active helps those who are depressed recover.
Physical activity needn't be anything too extreme either, with a simple walk proving to be just as good for things like;
- Our self-esteem
- Mood and sleep quality
- Reducing stress, anxiety and fatigue
Making time for exercise isn't always that easy though! The good news is that just 10 minutes of brisk walking a day can help us all feel better and with the help a new easy to use app it's never been more simple.
The free to use app designed by Public Health England takes away the guesswork from tracking your activity. It shows how much brisk walking you're doing along with how much more you have left. You could walk part of your journey home, pop to the shops on foot, or get some fresh air in the evening sunshine. No gym memberships, no brightly coloured Lycra. Just 10 minutes and you!
